Course Description

These courses are designed to train you in the skills necessary to operate two different types of rough terrain trucks: Rough Terrain Telescopic Handler trucks (often referred to as a Rough Terrain Telehandler) and Rough Terrain Masted trucks (often referred to as a Rough Terrain Forklift). In order to operate both machine types, you must complete both training courses.

Who should attend?

Candidates whose duties in the workplace require the use of a Rough Terrain Telescopic Handler truck and/or a Rough Terrain Masted Truck. Those who have completed training in one of our other truck courses can choose to attend training as a conversion candidate.

By the end of each course, you will have covered the following:

• Carrying out a pre-use inspection
• Principles of operating on rough terrain
• Controls and instruments
• Starting, stopping, moving and steering the truck
• Handling pallets, containers and bulk packs
• Driving on and off ramps and inclines
• Loading and unloading
• Stacking and destacking
• Causes of truck and load instability
